The Aubrey Room
Named for Jack Aubrey, the sea captain in the Patrick O’Brian seafaring novels. We doubt he’d have wanted to sail the kind of ship that hangs over the bed, but the painting is a good one and it’s been hanging in this house for probably 150 years. A smallish room as a double, eminiently comfortable as a single. Very quiet, overlooks the flowery patio, and has a tiled bathroom that everyone admires.
